Abstract: By using the method of successive approximation, the propagation of finite amplitude wave in a finite space of one dimension was treated. It was shown that, when higher orders of approximation were taken into account, the propagation of finite amplitude waves was not steady. A problem that was more easily treated in experiment than the initial value problem, was also discussed.
