Abstract: The work-energy relation of active constrained layer is studied through a variational approach,and isextended for the control of sound radiated from vibrating structure.Theoretical analysis indicates that,the power doneby external force to structure can be regarded as two parts:one is completely dissipated by active and passive dampings;the other is dissipated in the form of sound.The results provide a new approach for active structural acoustic control.
