Abstract: SAMPA has been widely applied to European Communities Languages since it was developed in 1987—1989.Under the aegis of COCOSDA SAMPA is extended to many other languages in the world.SAMPA for Standard Chinese (Putonghua) which is based on the Scheme of the Chinese Phonetic Alphabet (Pinyin) was developed aiming at practical applications in spoken language technology for Chinese.SAMPA-SC,IPA corresponding to the initials and the finals of Pinyin and the key word in SAMPA-SC were presented in this paper.In addition SAMPA-SC was extended to r-coloured Finals of Putonghua.
