Abstract
Measurements and analyses were made o the noise of a powder muller. It is proved that the noise (up to 118 dBA) of powder mullers is produced by the impact of the steel gears and propagated out through the openings in the form of air-borne sound. Vibration of the shell and solid-borne sound influence little on the noise. After applying silencers to the openings, the noise was reduced from 118 dBA to 80 dBA.
