A NOVEL EFFICIENT METHOD FOR DETECTION AND REMOVAL OF IMPULSE NOISE FROM DIGITIZED SPEECH

  • For the detection and removal of a particular kind of interference produced by the unstable operation of certain binary circuit elements,in recent years a lot of works had been done abroad. In this paper a new approach taken by the author is presented.A comparison of the proposed scheme with representative work done abroad is made both theoretically and experimentally. Results obtained by computer processing of real data of digitized speech corrupted by impulse noise show that the proposed method has more satisfactory function than the so called DDC method in restoration of the speech quality, requires less computation time than these approaches reported in the literatures and is easier to be implemented with hardware devices.A computer program written in Fortran according to the authors suggestion is appended to give the anxious.reader an available means for the elimination of impulse noise.
