A study of computations for acoustic velocities of arbitrarily dipping layers

  • Through deriving expressions relating the dip-angle (φm) of the lower boundary of a rayer to the acoustic velocity (Vm) of the layer and other predetermined parameters, Vm and φm can be taken as simultaneously iterative variables in solving shah's equations. Consequently the previous method1 of computing Vm and φm presented by Zhang S. is improved with better accuracy of computations.
