A new method for measuring coupling loss factors between building structures

  • This paper proposes a new method,the Intensity method,to measure coupling loss factors (CLFs) between bending waves in building structures using structural wave intensity techniques.It is anapproximate estimate method resulting in an approximate error in the estimate of a CLF.However,themeasurements performed on three different irces of the coupling structures showed that the approximateestimate error was small as compared with other measurement errors and can be neglected in many cases.The CLFs measured using the Intensity method are"equal to"those measured using the Energy LevelDifference method.The intensity method and the Energy Level Difference method are two equivalentmethods and they have a similar measurement accuracy.
