Abstract
Halls with circular plan or domed ceiling are apt to significant acoustic defects; and,it is even worse in hemi-spherical halls. The acoustical design of a circular screen cinema to be built in a reinforced concrete shell after the completion of construction was a challenging task.Special absorbing and scattering treatment of extra lightweight fiberglass tubes and floatation toys were applied to reduce the focusing and creeping effects along the wall and ceiling; and, at the same time, to control the reverberation time. Fulfilling acoustical performance of the cinema has thus been achieved.
