A SECOND-ORDER APPROXIMATE SOLUTION FOR SCATTERING OF A GRAZING LONGITUDINAL WAVE PULSE BY A RIBBON-TYPE CRACK-EXPERIMENTAL VERIFICATION BY THE PHOTOELASTIC METHOD

  • On using the dynamic photoelas ic method and our technique of fabricating an internal crack in glass, the scattered wave fields of a grazing longitudinal ultrasonic wave pulse by a ribbontype crack are observed. The distribution of the intensity of the head wave is measured quantitatively. The experimental results fairly agree with the theoretical ones given in Reference 1 .
