The Influence of Basic Currents on Interfacial Solitary Waves

In this paper, by using the perturbation method of multiple scales, the long, weak nonlinear interfacial waves in a two-layer fluid confined by two horizontal rigid walls are studied, providing that two layers of fluid show different basic currents, A Korteweg-de Vries equation satisfied by the first-order elevation of the interface is obtained. The influence of currents on solitary waves is discussed.
