  • Versus the characteristics of underwater acoustic (UWA) channel, the paper proposed a novel double-address accessing means in UWA communication.Information sources can be cancelled by using rotating the combining directory of vector sensor and meanwhile the desired source can communicate with others normally, vice versa.Due to the spatial directory of vector sensor does not vary with frequency hopping, this method can be utilized to realize wideband double-address asynchronous communication.Furthermore, when the angle between two information sources is bigger than 34.8°,by processing signals from pressure channel and velocity channel,an improvement can be obtained in the gain of signal to noise ratio.Theoretical analysis, simulation and lake trial results indicate that the theory of double-address communication basing on vector sensor can be completed easily and the ratio of bandwidth utilization is higher. Moreover, this method can also be combined with other multiple accessing techniques and the spatial gain acquired by vector sensor will decrease bit error rate (BER) effectively.Due to the particularity of underwater acoustic channel, underwater information networks use multi-address accessing techniques,to which double-address access technique this paper proposed is a useful complement.
